NUMBER THREE: HUB Trail

The HUB trail. This 20km beauty of a bike trail should be done sometime in the spring. Not only is it a bike trail but a community connector (HUB) to peoples homes, work and community major partners. Many hours, meetings and convincing of the right people that a bike path is GOOD for the community in many ways. I always try and make it to Finn Hill to say hi to Jim. Jim was a long time director of the Sault Cycling Club, founding member and chair of the Sault Trail Action Committee. Jim was instrumental in the creation of the HUB trail and will be remembered for his humour, as a first class gentleman, visionary, leader and, as he often said, his “ability to herd cats”. Jim died two years ago while on a hiking trip in Lake Superior Provincial Park. Just before he passed away he gave me a book called “The Wind in My Wheels” it is a tale of adventure on a bike. He said the main character reminded him of me.  Hmmm, interesting..
