THE MANHATTAN PROJECT....

So, bro and his wife (and several other people) asking about life in Manhattan (food, things to do)...thought I would blog it.  This is a limited QUICK list FOR SURE...but please add to it......

Avenue Q

Firstly WHAT DO YOU EAT??.....then I will tell you what to do...later

1-Cafe Loup (east village): French Food
2-Buddakan (meatpacking district): Asian Atmosphere Rad, and also in Sex & The City.
3-Gramaldi Pizza (under Brooklyn Bridge): great walk across also. People say its good but not GF.
4-Zabar's: (UPPER west side): actually grocery store packed with amazing top to floor yummy things for your morning breakfast in Central Park. Good coffee.
5- Magnolia Bakery (UPPER west side 200 Columbus @69th or 401 bleecker @ west 11th). They sell CUPCAKES---may have to wait in line...not for me but suppose to be good.
6-ChikaLicious Dessert Bar (east village): need I say more + wine :) Best park Chika prepares it for you.
7-Esperanto Cafe (greenwich village): where Bob Dylan used to get his perk...just saying if you like coffee.
8-Pink Tea Cup (greenwich village): good SOUL food here..yum yum.
9-Yaffa Cafe (east village 97 marks place 1st and Ave.)...think lovely garden cocktail party meets middle eastern jungle party...gets better as night rolls along.
10-Murray Hill Good price food and variety.   Vatan and Nirvana (Indian Food). Lexington?
11-Gramercy Park (between 23 to 40th on 2nd and 3rd Ave.) works also.


You can basically walk the entire length of Manhattan--it is really small and (big), just walking the borough is best sight seeing and most importantly people watching! (* Christie pick)
1-Central Park (*The Lake and Stawberry Fields/Imagine mosaic) bike around fun too! Good view Dakota apartment building where John Lennon died, Alice in Wonderland and *Great Lawn.
2-Time Square (at night)..it is what it is..
3-*Chelsea piers, cushman row (wrought iron railings/ginko trees), Hotel Chelsea and ***Markets.
4-Flatiron Building
5-Top of Rockeffer Center is the best view.
6-*Empire State Building (at night) open to 3am.
7-Garment District variety mash up of textiles, leather, cheap jewelry.
8-Walk High End Shops on 5th, Madison and Park Ave.
*Tiffany's they will  let you in even if you dont buy anything :)
9-Ride Free Staten Island Ferry and Check out Miss Liberty.
10-*Guggenheim
11-*Museum Modern Art (MOMA) famous painting and the other 100,000 painting in this building.
12-*Museum of Sex--its everything you are thinking and more...
13-*American Museum of Natural History-also one of the best things to see life and times of cavepeople...not what we think we were like for sure...
14-The Jewish Museum
15-*Off Broadway (get ticket Times Square For Cheap at TICKETS). Avenue Q (if you don't laugh at the puppets something is wrong with you),  Chicago (always fantastic), Rent, Wicked, West Side Story (maybe over now), STOMP (orpheum 7th/Marks east village)
16-*Chinatown: great frenzy of baby turtles,dried herbs and fake Louis Vuitton--Canal Street.
17-Bloomingdale's, Barney's, Macy's, Victoria Secret
18-*Top Shop
19-Bronx Zoo
20-*New York Public Library--is amazing to see, also in Ghostbusters, Sex & the City,
21-Radio City Music Hall--check to see concerts..
22-Trump Tower--big and shiny very consuming.
23-*Grand Central Station
24-St Barth Church--has small outdoor cafe/garden/music ?expensive.


Good luck trying to find all this in the concrete jungle...
