When you get to Wolverine Michigan you are almost home...well almost.

Quick update (really for the mother, as she finds it difficult to keep track of where I am).  I was going to provide some reassurance here for you mom, that I will still in the country...but in fact I was not.

Nice visit with family (so far away--tears), for a week south.
are you sleepy yet? or frozen...
me concentrating on my animal farm....

They did not sleep for days...zoo mania.  "it is a monitor lizard auntie Christie.."...sorry I have just been corrected by a three year old. "Oh Gorilla have lots their trees and have no home"---again..3 yr old genius.

Despite the fact the weather is not any better, but a least some dirt to ride on.  I never seem to get lost in a snake of unmarked trails, but get totally lost in suburbia land (the land of my nightmares). I do not need a GPS for 20km-30km of unmarked trail systems in Ontario!  But might consider one for my future adventure...
see mom I am still alive...
I am in the earthday bad books for sure--spent 2 hour at the boarder (my car was off most of the time, but I am sure it did not make a difference that day, everyone else had the car running).  It was dark/grey and pouring rain, missed exit, turnaround, navigating and driving around tetris of cars outside Detroit.  But I finally found my cousins house, had dinner, played board game with kids and went to bed...good sleep.
Had nice breakfast in AM with Lori and Andre (kids still sleeping), they made sure I had good directions and got to my race early (US Cycling Pontiac Lake TT).  Even came to cheer me on!

PONTIAC LAKE TT- 20 Miles of awesome.

first place you are crushing my hand......

The guy at registration said, "well, girrl one lap feels good, but two laps feels REAL goood"....well two laps in the expert category it is then!! Heck with the sport category. Warm weather 15 plus! Yah riding bikes on singletrack awesome! What stressed me out the most was that I forgot to shave my legs...yikes (so used to the cover-up parka riding bikes look), preregistration was slooow so little warmup for everyone.  I was worried at the start that I was going to stormed by the elite men from behind. One passed me at the end of my first lap, and bit surprise he did not try to past on the switch back climb as he was right behind me...I was going so fast, the roll down on the decent was more like high speed manual! Nothing like a air time in the middle of a TT.  The single track was awesome, nice mix of terrain (switch back climbs), boulder gardens, sweet berms, fast flats and ....and the best part...
THE CHUTE---very deep/steep hole? banked walls both sides, followed by sketchy slick wet clay climb on the eroded edge of a steep hill.

Two 10 mile laps, 2nd Place.
Good local coffee (Big Ring Coffee http://www.bigringcoffee.com/--good friend, good coffee)
SIX hours of driving
couple of chocolate Lindor bunnies and your almost in Wolverine Michigan...well almost...it was a long drive.
